Perception Is Reality, 360 Degrees

January 2nd, 2009

I recently attended a networking event for small businesses and, as is customary at these events, everyone passed their business cards around. Now, since I am in the business of helping small businesses prepare and present the best possible image for themselves, I tend to take a good look at the overall quality and presentation of the business cards that come my way. Usually, there are a few cards in the bunch that could use a little sprucing up.

So it was at this particular event.

More Marketing Tips From the Fight Biz

December 4th, 2008

As mentioned in my last post, I’m a bit of a fight fan. Prior to MMA (mixed martial arts) becoming as readily accessible as it is today, I got my fight fix from boxing. I still have an active interest in boxing and recently, while catching up on some news on Yahoo Sports, I came upon another fight promotion article packed full of useful marketing tips.

The particular article of interest is titled ‘Boxing Hype Finally Reaching the 21st Century.’ In this article, numerous methods of marketing are implemented in conjunction to generate interest for the upcoming Delahoya – Pacquaio fight.

Marketing 101 From the Fight Biz

December 1st, 2008

As an avid fight fan, I like to frequent a few MMA (mixed martial arts) web sites to keep up with the fight biz. Recently, while visiting one of my favorite sites, I came upon a rather unique, ongoing series of articles offering a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on a successful mma event. The MMA organization at the root of the series is the XFC, out of Tampa FL and the series is titled ‘The Anatomy of an MMA Show’.

For those less informed about MMA, it should be noted that although MMA has recently seen significant increase in popular culture, most of the success has been centered around the most widely recognized ‘UFC’ brand.

Hidden Hills Web Site Design

We recently completed another complete web site redesign project. This time, for Hidden Hills Country Club Estates.

This project included an overhaul of a somewhat outdated site by completely stripping down the old sites content and starting from scratch.
The goals for this site were to provide a more aesthetic look and feel suitable to the casual tranquility of the Hidden Hills Estates themselves.  I had the pleasure of driving around the community and strolling throughout the…

Maximize Your Website and Domain Names

October 18th, 2008

In today’s economy, a business needs to make the most of the marketing tools that are available.  Your web site and domain name(s) can play a vital role in maximizing your exposure to potential customers on the web.

A recent in-house audit revealed we had been sitting on several domain names purchased for future projects but which were otherwise sitting unused. This is like buying ad space and then letting other people advertise in that space. …

Does domain name registration duration affect search results?

August 23rd, 2008

While discussing search engines and web design recently, I was asked if the duration of a domain name registration had any affect on a sites consideration by search engines.  I had to admit, this was the first time I had heard of this so, I set out to see what I could find on the matter and it turns out there may be some truth to it.

It seems Google had applied for a patent in…

Google and the ‘Sandbox’ Effect

August 16th, 2008

While surfing the net this weekend, I followed a trail of bread crumbs from one article to another pertaining to SEO (search engine optimization). I ended up landing on an article about a potential ’sandbox’ at Google.

The general theory suggests that Google puts new web sites into a holding state, or ’sandbox’ for an undetermined amount of time before releasing it back onto it’s (Google’s) search engine index. Google does this to validate the site…
